The ForestAll forests have secret places rarely visited by humans. These are the areas where the Pixies live. You have to look very hard to see the remains of toadstool houses, acorn train tunnels and acorn lift shafts.
Pixie families live in small groups to lessen the danger caused by flooding, storms and humans. They form great friendships with each other and like nothing more than helping each other out. Wherever they go they are never far from a tree, where they can dive into a hidden hole to catch an acorn train. Pixie schools are located at the edge of the large trees so they can have daylight streaming in through the cracks in the bark. If you put your ear to the side of a tree you might hear the sound of pixie lifts rushing up to the top of the tree. If you look up high you might just make out the flat branches with swimming pools and the fungus viewing rooms. Use your own imagination to decide what else is there. |
ToadstoolsMany Pixies live in toadstools during the spring and summer because they are cool inside and frequently grow in small groups. This means that they have close neighbours and friends so they can easily visit one another and help out if necessary.
Once autumn arrives the toadstools rot, so the Pixies move out to more solid homes inside trees and bushes. Restoration Pixies arrive and within a very short time have removed all furniture, stairs, windows and doors so the toadstool looks almost normal. |
Tree FungusA few Pixies prefer to live in a tree fungus because of the views. Some tree fungi don’t rot in the autumn, so Pixies can live in them all year round. The main difficulty in converting tree fungi is that they are difficult to reach. Some of the trees have a large number of fungi growing on them and these allow many families to live close together.

TreesLarge trees provide space within their roots for acorn stations with platforms and lifts to the upper areas. They also provide protection all round so important pixie areas are located in the middle of such trees.
Pixie hospitals are always located in pine trees to make use of the natural saps and vapours to aid healing. As well as caring for Pixies, Pixie hospitals also care for small woodland creatures because they are vital to Pixie wellbeing. All Pixies must learn to swim because of the risk of being washed into a puddle during a shower, or worse during heavy rain. Some large trees have high level branches with a deep depression which fills with water. These are turned into Pixie swimming pools. |
